Orlets was created in 2010 as a local history portal, and in 2012 it began publishing news feeds and criticizing local authorities. Because of this, in the spring of 2022, the VKontakte group and website were blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. In September of the same year, the authors of the project left Russia after searches.
